Francesca Ricci

BIOGRAPHY

Francesca Ricci was born in Florence, Italy, where she studied at the Fine Arts Academy. After many years in London she currently lives and works in Valencia, Spain.

Her work is project-based and relates to other fields of expression such as the written word, photography, the cinematic image and music. She has a strong interest in psychology, philosophy, anthropology, spirituality and esotericism as tools of investigation of reality.

In collaboration with writer Kiril Bozhinov she has developed the project Tabula Impressa inspired by the Jungian concept of collective unconscious and urban semiotics. Firstly exhibited in London in 2013, Tabula Impressa was presented at the third international colloquium ‘Esotericism-inspired visions in Central and Eastern Europe’, at the University of Szeged, Hungary (2018).

Exhibitions include ‘Normal Papers’, Fringe Arts Bath (2018); ‘Summer Salon’, and ‘Antennae’, Lubomirov / Angus-Hughes Gallery, London, (2017); ‘Imaginary Worlds’, Oriel Davies Galleries, Newtown, Wales (2016-17); ‘I Beg You to Hear Me!’ (solo), Black Spring Bookshop, Florence, Italy (2015); ‘Summer Exhibition’, Circulo de Bellas Artes de Tenerife, Canary Islands (2015); ‘Hide and Seek’, Fringe Arts Bath (2015); ‘Tarocchi Appropriati’, ArteFiera Bologna, Italy (2015); ‘OFF THE WALL’, The 9th Terrace Annual, London (2014); ‘Tabula Impressa‘ (solo, with Kiril Bozhinov), dalla Rosa Gallery, London (2013); ‘I Beg You to Hear Me!’ (solo, with Kiril Bozhinov), dalla Rosa Gallery, London (2011).

Her work is in the collections of the National Art Library, Victoria and Albert Museum, London, of the Tarot Museum Mechelen (Belgium) and Tarot Museum, Riola (Bologna), Italy.

In 2015, she launched with musician Gaston Gorga PNEUMA, a collaborative project including spoken word, live performance, sound manipulation, improvisation and visuals.
