Penny Slinger

Penny Slinger, was born in London in 1947. She works in a variety of media and is best known for her feminist surrealist collage work exploring the nature of the female psyche.

She published 3 books of photo collage, 50% The Visible Woman, An Exorcism and Mountain Ecstasy. She co-wrote and illustrated Sexual Secrets: The Alchemy of Ecstasy (1979, 2000), The Secret Dakini Oracle (1979) and The Path of the Mystic Lover (1993). From 1980 to 1994 she lived in the West Indies, subsequently moving to the US. She currently resides in Los Angeles, California. In 2009, her collages were exhibited at Tate St Ives as part of The Dark Monarch: Magic and Modernity in Modern Art, and in Angels of Anarchy: Women Artists and Surrealism, Manchester Art Gallery. Her work is in many collections internationally, including Tate Britain. She is currently represented by Blum and Poe, LA and Richard Saltoun Gallery, UK.

In 2010 she released the 64 Dakini Oracle online, presenting a cycle of Divine Feminine archetypes. She is working on new art series presenting herself as her own muse and confronting agism.
