Paul Cowlan

Paul Cowlan

BIOGRAPHY

Paul Cowlan was a singer songwriter for over forty years, on the road in ten countries a year, amassing nine albums of original material between 1984 and 2010. He also ran popular courses on songwriting and gave performances in schools and Arts Centres in the U.K., Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Holland, Norway and Croatia. (Arvon Foundation; Westham House; Kilve Court,; Dillington House; Exeter & Devon Arts Centre; Theatre Royal, Plymouth; University of Rheims etc.)

Poetry was a constant companion; and a deep practical interest in psycho-spiritual alchemy was central to his understanding of the world. His poems have won prizes and appeared in numerous publications (Scintilla, Tabla, Stand, Envoi, Still etc.,) and he presently has four poetry collections, eleven publications on alchemical topics, and has contributed articles to Alchemy Journal and Abraxas. He is a regular speaker at Treadwells Bookshop in London, where he gives talks and workshops on alchemical themes.

Paul now lives in Frankfurt am Main, Germany where he was, for many years, active on the slam poetry scene, representing the city at national events on two occasions. He is presently a member of Shakespeare Frankfurt, appearing in roles such as Prospero, Sir Toby Belch, Oberon and Iago.

Together with his German wife, Gabriele, he enjoys travelling to far flung regions of the globe.
