BIOGRAPHY
Antoine Faivre was the first person to define Western esotericism as a field of interdisciplinary academic study and is one of the foremost scholars in this field. Until his retirement he was Professor at the École Pratique des Hautes Études at the Sorbonne, where he held the Chair of History of Esoteric and Mystical Currents in Modern and Contemporary Europe. He is the author of many books including The Golden Fleece and Alchemy (1993), Access to Western Esotericism (1994) and The Eternal Hermes (1996).
